04/29/2007

I don't have very much on Emery today. He is very fussy, more so than usual. He was given morphine, and that simply allows him to tolerate being awake, but he continues to fuss. The nurse mentioned today that it is possible they won't check for the kidney stone until he is ready to leave. I can't imagine that being the case, but I hope if they are planning on making my baby a junkie they are going to send him home on something and wean from there. I would hate to have to wait another month simply to wean him from his baby smack. He is still on CPAP at a pressure of 14. Tomorrow is chest x-ray and blood gas day. If he is overexpanded, they will wean the pressure by 1 cm. If not, they will wait until Thursday's chest x-ray and blood gas. He has another eye exam Wednesday. It's hard being with him like this. He is so unhappy and fussy. Erik burst out and said "Jeesh, what the heck is wrong with you?" What isn't wrong with him? He has sick lungs, a kidney stone, an NP tube stuck in his bloody sore nose, and a feeding tube in there as well. Aside from those things, he's doing pretty good. He is at least being kept comfortable, or at least it seems that way. He got a bath today and really liked it. He is so very cute and enjoys being soaked up and in a warm tub. Now, he just looks like a hot dog rather than smelling like one! Love Sarah, Erik and Emery
