06/07/2007 *evening*

My last update for the evening. I am wiped! I stayed in Emery's room until he woke, and the poor guy fussed so much they had to put his arms in makeshift restraints (he looks like a shepard) and he's gagging on his ET tube, but he's comfortable. I also realized that I can't believe how negative I get when things don't go my way. I was a giant ball of nerves today and angry that we had to wait for the surgery. Erik reminded me that we are just worried parents and that it's okay, but boy-oh-boy no wonder they all approach me with caution around here. We didn't get a picture of the stone. The surgeon brought it up in a pathology cup and showed it to us and we never got one. For size estimates, it is smaller than a pebble. Very tiny. And red. Weird. I guess that's why I was surpised at its size. It looked like miniature rock candy. If you go to this web site http://www.bluenile.com/diamond_carat.asp?track=row_mod1&elem=text I picked the size that was about the size of the stone. I have no other reference. He did say that it would be very unlikely for Emery to have a metabolic disorder. Part of the reason they haven't seen stones in babies is because they have just been saving babies like Emery for the last 10 years or so. They are starting to become more common in kids. Okay, I'm an now officially beat. Off to bed for me, my babes is doing well.
